About the Role:

We are a well established UK manufacturer that designs and supplies high-quality mechanical products used across industrial, commercial, and domestic sectors. And are now looking to recruit a Product Design Engineer to join their in-house engineering team.

This is a hands-on design and development role — ideal for someone with experience in CAD, prototyping, and engineering components such as fittings, fasteners, bearings, or other parts used in assemblies.

The role is fully office-based at the Kingswinford facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design new mechanical components and improve existing products
  • Use CAD software (ideally Autodesk Inventor) to create and develop 3D models and technical drawings
  • Develop and test physical prototypes
  • Collaborate with internal teams (manufacturing, quality, and marketing) throughout the product lifecycle
  • Analyse designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency
  • Assist with resolving technical queries across the business
  • Support ongoing innovation and product development initiatives

About You:

Requirements

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Experience in the design of mechanical components, ideally:
  • Fittings, fasteners, housings, bearings, or related assemblies
  • Proficient with CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Practical understanding of prototyping and testing methods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured development processes
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams

Desirable Skills (Not Essential)

  • Experience with ANSYS or other simulation software
  • Knowledge of materials selection and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with plumbing fittings or related component
